Eminem Cat: The AI Cat Rap Meme
“Eminem cat” started as an AI-generated song in 2023: lyrics about cats written by ChatGPT, rapped by an AI copy of Eminem’s voice. It went viral, appeared on TV, and was then taken down by the rapper’s label. Today the phrase covers any clip of a cat that looks like it is spitting bars.
Where the AI Eminem cat rap came from
In early 2023 the YouTuber Grandayy asked ChatGPT to write an Eminem-style song about cats and ran it through an AI model trained to imitate Eminem’s voice. The result sounded convincingly like the rapper and spread fast. In March 2023 John Oliver showed it on Last Week Tonight in a segment about AI.
Why it was taken down
In April 2023 Universal Music Group, Eminem’s label, sent a DMCA copyright takedown. YouTube removed the video and Grandayy’s channel received a strike. He told Motherboard he thought it was an extreme reaction, and that the law around AI voices was still unclear. The case became one of the first well-known examples of a label going after an AI voice clone.
The rapping cat wave of 2026
On September 18, 2026 an X account posted a roughly 30-second AI clip of two cats standing on their hind legs and rapping to a hip-hop track; it passed seven million views within days. Remixes followed on TikTok, Reels and X, nicknamed “Meowgos”, and app makers such as yes& AI published “rapping cats” templates where you swap in your own characters. Motion-transfer tools like Higgsfield were used for the related AI rapper clips with people.
A typical clip shows one or two cats upright in front of a microphone, bobbing their heads, pointing their paws and mouthing every word. Fast, technical verses got labelled “Eminem cat”, and in October 2026 Google searches for “eminem cat” and “ai rap video generator” rose together.
How to make your own (without the takedown)
- Pick a sharp photo of your cat facing the camera, whole head visible.
- Use original lyrics. Cat verses are on the AI rap lyrics page.
- Ask for a fast double-time battle-rap style, but never for a named rapper’s voice.
- Keep it to 12 to 15 seconds and post it vertically.
The full workflow is in how to make an AI rap video. Rap Video Generator’s cat rap video does it from one cat photo.
Rap Video Generator turns one photo of you, a friend or your pet into a 12-second vertical rap video with an original AI verse, no lyrics needed.
